All Wildcat cartridges are now on this page.

General info first- Open 9-5 EST if you need to call. "tech@ar15performance.com" is the best email.  A limited amount of product is added to the site daily to keep wait times down. Still with the amount of orders we receive in a single night it keeps us busy and usually run 3-7 business days to ship depending on the parts ordered.  FEDEX will send an automated email with tracking info when the label is printed.

Due to numerous shipping, fraud and theft problems over the last 9 years. We have a very strict ordering and shipping policy. We can ship by FEDEX or USPS to residence, business or post offices but the shipping address must match the billing address associated with the credit card used to place the order. We will no longer ship to apartments complexes. We are not taking any new customers in California.    You 68forums guys know what to do.
All parts will require a signature upon delivery, Fed Ex or USPS for PO boxes

Caliber choice opinion- If your primary use will be long range targets the 224 Valkyrie, TAC 6, 224 and
6mm Predator and 6.5 Grendel makes sense. There are more match type bullets available in 224, 6mm and 6.5mm than the 6.8.  The 6mm Predator, 240 Valkyrie and TAC 6 will beat all others in exterior ballistic performance. The 6mms in my opinion are also the most versatile as light as 55gr for varmints to 80-90gr for hunting and 95-108gr VLDs for long range paper punching.
If you are looking for a deer or hog round the 27ARP, TAC 30(30 Herrett), 6.8, 6.5 Grendel, SIX5 and 7.62x39 will be better choices for hunting.

BOLTS ARE NOT INCLUDED with a barrel. They are an option either below the barrel description or on the 'bolt/carrier"page. No other parts are included with a barrel unless added as an option.
Warning- We do not sell Nitride bolts and will warn all against using Nitride bolts. The Nitride treatment anneals carburized bolts. At some point in time the lugs will compres and headspce will increase to an unsafe level.

Headspace- When bolts and barrels are purchased together we will check the headspace.

Barrels are ported to work with standard carbine springs and buffers when used with Normal ammo producing 50000psi. Using weak ammo or reloads, heavier buffers or stronger spring may cause the rifle to short stroke or not strip ammo from the mag. We can port the barrels larger if you plan to run different parts or lower pressure ammo. Add a note in the additional comment box during checkout.

The gas block boss on the barrels are sized to work with .750 diameter gas blocks, that does NOT mean the boss itself is exactly .750.

Any of the 6.8 wildcats may use the 22 Nosler brass. Just use a 5.56/223 bolt and trim the brass to the trim length called out in the specs.

Think of this as the 224 Valkyrie improved - Wildcat based on the 6.8 brass trimmed to 42mm, apx 250fps faster than a 5.56 and 150 fps faster than the Valkyrie.  75-80gr bullets run 3000-3100 out of a 20" barrel. The 5.56x42 was designed around 2007 or 2008 long before the 22 Nosler or 224 Valkyrie. It was designed to shoot the 75-80gr Amax and Berger at mag length but also shoots varmint bullets as light as 40gr. 55gr bullets run around 34-3450fps.

6.8 small base bushing dies can be used to form and load the 5.56x42 or Whidden Gunworks in Ga can make a custom set for you. 224 Valkyrie dies can be used for the initial neck down in one step if the die is held up off the shell holder and adjusted so the neck is sized down without touching the shoulder.

NOTICE- This barrel has 5/8-24 muzzle threads to reduce bore swelling at the muzzle common with barrels threaded 1/2-28. Most barrels with 1/2" muzzle threads will allow bullets to wobble when exiting the muzzle which degrades accuracy.

Jason Peterson shot a 4.5" group at 1000 yards using 28gr N540 with the 80gr Amax.

Barrel extension must be installed after the flutes are cut. The flutes will NOT be clocked straight up.

    Next batch fall 2019
224 Valkyrie - The new long range target/PRS(semi auto) king. If you are looking for the best long range target performance out of a factory AR15 round this is it. The 224V has much less drop and drift than the Grendel, also less recoil.

The  chamber we produce matches the SAAMI spec drawing perfectly. The freebore is much shorter than most barrels on the market and will produce better accuracy with all long high BC bullets like the 90 and 95smk, 75, 80 and 88 ELDs and Bergers.

Short nosed bullets (55-62)will have to be loaded shorter than mag length to keep them out of the lands. Adjust your loads to keep the bullets out of the lands. Tested factory ammo 90smks and 88 ELDs produced 3/4-1", 60 Nosler just a hair larger on average, the 75TMJ were poor 1.5-2". Being able to seat the bullets closer to the lands when handloading should improve accuracy.

The 6.5 twist will allow shooting the 95s, 88s and everything under down to 55s and do it accurately. I have shot 55gr Noslers into 1/2" at 100yds so don't belive the BS that a fast twist barrel will not shoot light bullets.

These 22" 3R barrels are as fast as many of the old 6 groove 24" barrels. The Melonite treatment will make these barrels last twice as long as stainless.

    • Chamber: 224 Valkyrie

    TAC 6 (240 Valkyrie improved)

I designed this for guys who like using the 6.8 brass, this version allows using 105s at mag length unlike the 6-6.8, 6pdk and 6mm Hagar.  It may not be quite as fast (25-50fps)as the 6mm Predator but should be more reliable with stronger bolts and brass and it should feed better than the Grendel cases.  This was my idea of a perfect tactical cartridge 0-600yds with ease.  It is capable of shooting super light bullets at small varmints, 75gr bullets at yotes, 95-108gr long range target bullets and 80-90gr hunting bullets at deer and hogs.  The Tac 6 with 105gr Bergers will hit around 2800fps out of an 22"barrel. The TAC 6 will beat the ballistics of the 224 Valkyrie or 6.5 Grendel.  Hornady custom dies are available as an option below this description and needed to form the brass.

    • Chamber: TAC 6 -based on the 6.8 case. Requires trimming the brass to 1.570. You do not need to fire form.
    • Bolt: use standard 6.8 bolt
    • Profile:  SPR-.850/.750/.718
    • Fluted: NO
    • Barrel Length: 22"
    • Twist Rate: 1:8- Hybrid 3R rifling(similar to 5R but 3 lands and grooves for higher performance)
    • Gas System: Rifle
    • Diameter at Gas Port: .750" Note - Boss is short for use with 1" long gas blocks.

    6.8 based wildcat- 16" barrel

If you are looking for the most reliable and best all out terminal performance on hogs and deer out to 300yds the TAC 30 is it.   The rounds hit like Thor's hammer...DRT, a perfect match for Texas hog hunters. I've heard some 300 Ham-r cheerleaders say it is as fast as the TAC 30. It has 5gr less capacity, it isn't as fast.

The Cavity Back bullets 125gr MKZ open to .800" diameter, imagine the wound channel! They are pushing the 125gr MKZ to 2700 out of an 18" barrel with 29.4gr of SW blackout. That is 150fps faster than a 20" Grendel and 450fps faster than a 300 Blackout.  The Herrett using SW BO powder is as fast out of an 18" barrel as the 30 Remington AR  was out of a 24" barrel. The TAC 30  is big brother to the TAC 6 cartridge. It is a wildcat that you must reload, form and trim cases but you do not need to fire-form and you don't need to modify mags like the BO or Ham-R.

    4150 CMV 30 Herrett mid wt profile, Hybrid 5R rifling 11.25 twist . 2lb-2oz
M4 feed ramps, mid length gas system, .850 taper to.750 under the guard, .750 gas block dia. .700 dia from gas block to muzzle.  5/8-24 thread muzzle.

30 Herrett  reloading dies are used with a 6.8 shell holder. 6.8 SPC brass is easiest to use, S&B, Hornady, Starline in that order. Trim to 1.570,  1.580" is  max case length. It is important to size the brass close to the chamber size. Set the dies up where they push the shoulder back just enough to chamber the brass. Hornady 30 Herrett dies seem to work best but again be careful not to push the shoulder back too far. The 30 Herrett was a wildcat many years ago and the older dies vary in size. You do not need to fireform or turn the necks on the brass. Just trim, size, load and shoot.
The 30 Herrett in an AR can be loaded to higher pressures than the old TC pistols. With 125-130gr bullets Shooters World BO, 1680, 4198 and RE7 work well.

    Suggested maximum loads-16"barrel
125gr Sierra prohunter loaded to 2.240-30.5gr 1680=2610fps CCI 450 primer
125gr Nosler Ballistic tip loaded to 2.3"-30.5gr 1680=2680fps CCI 450primer

    130gr MK319  30gr AA1680 =2590fps -very accurate and a great hunting bullet
    110gr Barnes TSX loaded to 2.295, 31gr 1680=2678fps
    110gr Barnes TSX loaded to 2.295, 32gr 1680=2796fps

All loads produced groups in the 3/4-1" range and should be good for hunting, 100-200fps faster than the 6.8.

The Hornady 125SST was not as accurate as the bullets above.

    28.5gr 1680 behind a 125 TNT hit 2500fps out of a 16" barrel.
29.5gr 1680 apx 2570fps with 125gr Speer TNT or Hornady SST loaded to 2.3" is a good load.
    30gr 1680=2594fps-54900psi
30.5gr 1680 =2655- 57000psi-Should be considered max load , do not load hotter than this.

    150gr Nosler BT-27.5gr 1680=2366fps

This is a complete barrel only, it does NOT include any other parts unless added below as an option.

This 6mm Predator barrel uses common 6.5 Grendel bolts.

Part of our Predator line of barrels, this cartridge is based on the PPC or Grendel brass. This is the same as the  "6mmAR" or "243LBC". Exact same chamber and freebore as the 243LBC. The 243LBC freebore was located at a good length, I left it .  Whatever it is called it is capable of pushing 95gr bullets with a BC of .456 to 2800fps out of a 20" barrel and 105s to apx 2775fps making it one of if not the flattest shooting long range cartridges to fit in an AR15. Exterior ballistics beat the Grendel. It may also be the most versatile cartridge we have ever produced. It is capable of shooting super light bullets at small varmints, 75gr bullets at yotes, 95-108gr long range target bullets and 80-90gr hunting bullets at deer and hogs.   Hornady custom dies are available.  Grendel bushing dies with a .268 bushing  and a 6mm expander ball may also be used to load.  Hornady brass tends to work better. Try 27.5-28gr  8208 witha a 95smk set to 2.29 OAL Customer photo of group shown. These 22" 3R barrels are as fast as many of the old 6 groove 24" barrels.  Sorry the 750XD bolt is not an option with the 224 or 6mm.

Part of our Predator line of barrels, this cartridge is based on the PPC or Grendel brass, we recommend Norma Grendel brass. This is the same as the  "6mmAR" or "243LBC". This barrel and bolt combo is being produced specifically to fix all off the issues with the Grendel sized cases. I have done everything I can possibly do to make this combo of cartridge, barrel and bolt as strong as possible. They are the strongest bolts made for .442" diameter cartridges. Regardless of what you read on the internet bolts with a .136 recess are NOT stronger than bolts with a .124" recess and the extractors are the same.  The .124 recess bolts also position the brass .012" further in the chamber which keeps the thin case wall away from the unsupported chamfer area at the breech so you can run higher pressures without getting as much of a Grendel belted magnum look and possibly rupturing cases. The bolts will handle 58000 psi if the brass will, those two things will get you an extra 100fps over typical Grendel bolts and cases running 52,000psi. In addition these sets are held to very tight tolerances. Headspace is set to minimum to help prevent case stretch improving case life further.  If you play with the chambering/carrier by hand you will likely hear and feel the lugs clicking when new. They will smooth out as used but the design is intended to make the barrel and bolt as strong as possible. This combination of parts and specs is how the Grendel should have been made from day 1.

The 224 Predator is a wildcat based on the PPC or Grendel brass, we recommend Norma Grendel brass. It is the same as a 224 LBC or 224 Grendel. The 224 Predator has a short freebore setup for the long VLDs. The freebore is only .080 so be sure to check where they touch the lands before loading ammo. Many of the 75 and 80gr bullets need to be set around 2.22" OAL. The 62gr Fusions hit at 2.085. 30gr CFE works very well with 75 and 80gr bullets.
Many people think you should be able to load every bullet out to full mag length at 2.26" but you can't. If you loaded a 55gr Nosler to 2.26" it would fall out of the case. The 80 Berger and 75ELDs are long and if you load them to 2.26 the top of the boat tail/bottom of the full diameter is not down to the shoulder-neck junction in the case.
Regardless of what you think when the 80 Berger is loaded to 2.22" OAL the bullet is not protruding into the powder capacity. Only the boattail is below the shoulder junction.
Bottom line, check to see where the bullets hit the lands and back off .010"

The 270MSR is a AR15 wildcat that was designed for the great selection of 130gr 270 bullets. It will push 130gr bullets to 2700-2750fps, apx 200fps faster than the 6.8 and 300 fps faster than the Grendel.   It is close to a full power hunting cartridge, like the 260 or 308. The 270MSR will add range to the 6.8s ability. It will be effective on mule deer, antelope. elk, and other med sized game usually shot at longer ranges than white tails and hogs.

If you want a 6.5mm but are concerned about bolt life and feeding the SIX5 is an option.
This is a 6.5mm wildcat based on the 6.8 SPC case that uses stronger bolts and feeds better from the 6.8 mags. These barrels can be very accurate(1/2MOA) with 100gr TTSX, 120gr TSX, 100 Amax, 120 Nosler, 100 Nosler Partition, 95 Vmax.  The 100gr bullets at 2800fps are a sweet spot for a case the size of the Grendel or 6.8. They will out perform any of the 123gr bullets out of the  Grendels 2500fps all the way to 800yds.  These 16" barrels are perfect for those that love the Barnes 100gr TTSX bullets and want a shorter barrel to hunt with.

Please read the load data below carefully before purchasing , it takes loading long(OAL), max mag length to get the best accuracy. If you do not understand what it takes to get accuracy from this round please call before purchasing. Mags that allow loading longer than 2.3"  are available from Cavity Back Bullets.

By trimming the 6.8 case back to 1.610-1.615  the Hornady 123 Amax and SST, Barnes 100 and 120 TTSX, 120 TSX. Nosler 100 and 120 NBT can be loaded to the cannelure in a 41mm long 6.8 case to 2.31"and fit in unmodified Magpul SIX8 pmags or PRI 6.8 mags.

    4150 CMV 11595E barrel steel. Barrels have a Hybrid 5R rifling with 1 in  8.5 twist .
Barrels have M4 feed ramps, mid length gas system, .800 under the guard, .750 gas block dia. .718 dia from gas block to muzzle.  5/8-24 thread muzzle. Barrels have helical flutes ($120 option in many places)

6.8 bushing dies with a .284-.288 bushing and trimming the case to 1.610" is needed to reload. The chamber has a .297 neck 1.5 degree throat angle for better accuracy and to prevent splitting the case necks from over working the brass. Do NOT have to fire-form just size trim and load.

This is a barrel only, it does NOT include any other parts unless added below as an option.

    .
Bullfrog Rusthunter is known to cause discoloration of Melonite surfaces.
NOTE: When forming the brass the first time it must be done correctly to get good accuracy. When setting the shoulder location it is best to set the dies .002-.004" under the chamber size.

All loads below should be considered max. Start 1-2gr lower and workup while looking for accuracy.
Pressures shown are from actual pressure tests not calculated from quickload.

The 123 SST and Amax must be loaded to 2.31+ to get the best accuracy. The 120 Nosler 2.3"seems to work well.

Try these loads-they have been tested for accuracy using Hornady brass, Wolf magnum primers and all shoot under 1 MOA some under 1/2 MOA out of the 16" barrels.
100gr Barnes TTSX -OAL 2.3-2.31" 28.5gr 10x ---max load, do not use more than 28.5 10x--.4 MOA --most accurate load tested.
    100gr Hornady Amax -OAL 2.295-2.31 28gr 10x ---max load
    120gr Barnes TSX--OAL 2.32-30gr AA2520---max load
    120 Nosler BT-OAL 2.3-2.31"-30gr AA2520---max load
    123gr Amax OAL 2.31-2.32-30gr AA2520---max load
Drop 1/2-1 gr if using CCI magnum primers or Federal brass. All of those loads above are compressed but shoot very well.

This is a one time special offer-

Wildcat based on a shortened 5.56/223 case. The brass must be cut down and resized and loaded but there is factory ammo available.     https://www.jbsfirearms.com/category-s/1831.htm   Uses a mil spec 5.56 bolt and mags so the only thing needed to convert the 5.56 is the barrel and ammo.  The 1:11.25 twist rate will accurately shoot any bullet from 80-120gr and most 130s.

If it isn't stamped "ARP" it is not an AR Performance barrel.
This is a complete barrel only, it does NOT include any other parts unless added below as an option.

If your primary use is shooting targets with some hunting the Grendel is a good choice. There are more 6.5 target type bullets than usable hunting bullets. Hornady 123gr factory ammo is easily 1 MOA.

Criterion  profile barrels are ported to run factory ammo with a standard CAR buffer and spring. The barrels we offer have a hi performance 3R rifling instead of the old school 4 or 6 groove enfield rifling. They usually produce 60-90fps more than 4 or 6 groove barrels with the same ammo and can be loaded hotter due to the reduced engraving force.
Barrel is Black- NO COUPONS on closeouts

These barrels need to be used with a .136" deep recess Grendel bolt.  Warning -DO NOT purchase a black Nitride, Nitride or Melonite treated bolt.  Nitride treatment of a bolt after it has been case hardened makes the bolt softer. The lugs will compress and headpace will increase.
